Grayson Swim and Dive

Athletes and Parents,

We had a extremely successful season opener this past Friday. Our next meet, Saturday morning, will afford us the opportunity to enter more athletes and events (Tri vs. Quad Meet). It will be an early event, so please set your alarms. PLEASE be at GHS, 5:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. We will warm-up at 7:15 and the meet should be completed around 11:00 a.m.

Also, please come by Room 1.538 starting Tuesday to pick up your Picture Packet. I will also distribute the packets at practice this week. We will meet in Rm. 1.508 immediately after school this Friday for team pictures.

Athletes, we need your help in raising money for our large squad. Our Lap-A-Thon will occur on the Monday following Thanksgiving, December 1st. We also need a few parent volunteers as lap counters.

Thank you to the many hard-working parent volunteers who ensured we had a well-managed event this past Friday. Also, our athletes all conducted themselves in a sportsmanlike-manner that made GHS proud.

Helpful Hints for all you 'newbies' -

*Check out the website for the schedule & meet locations

*Meet times shown in the schedule indicate when our swimmers are allowed to begin warm-ups AND WHEN WORKERS NEED TO REPORT. The meets usually start roughly 30-45 minutes later.

*All pools have bleachers for the fans to sit in during the meet. The Collins Hill pool is smaller and a small amount of room is available for fold out chairs.

*Be sure to wear your Grayson Ram colors & spiritwear. Let’s show our swimmers we support them all the way!

*Be careful not to disturb the start horn /No yelling or flash photography during heat starts BUT lots of cheering is necessary during the swim!

*During the diving event - cheer for the diver after completion of the dive - this allows the diver more concentration when on the board.

*For those of you experienced in summer league swimming - High School is slightly different - boys go first in each event.

*AND for those of you wonderful volunteer swim families – our swimmers need lots of help to provide a well ‘run’ meet. Plenty of work assignments are available and you will be graciously placed in positions as required. All parents & guardians are required to help and a list of work assignments will be posted very soon.
